British The case of John Surtees is unique in the history of motor sport. Multiple Motorcycle World Champion in the categories of 350 and 500 cc, also would become World Champion Formula 1, showing that he was a pilot so versatile.
If in our days most Formula 1 drivers have debuted in karts, it was not always so. In the early twentieth century, the best step to drive racing cars was racing cyclists. In fact, some pilots that debuted heroic age pedaling a bicycle. Later, motorcycle racing were the ones producing champions like Ascari, Behra and many others. John Surtees made a brilliant record in motorcycling, as it had, at the time of moving from two to four wheel, with no fewer than seven titles in the World Championship. Was in effect, the 1956 world champion in 500cc in 1958, 1959 and 1960, won titles at 350 and 500 cc. Under the nickname "Big John", then flew Surtees Italian machines, an MV Augusta.
