Argentina has a leadership role in this movement: the Follow-up Meeting of the Summit of Nuclear Security and the Supplementary Meeting of the private sector, where presidential delegates on one side and industry representatives on the other paved the way for the second summit (Seoul, 2012), were carried out in the Foreign Ministry during the first days of November.

That the country has been the venue of these meetings, a position of privilege, not coincidentally, is one of the safest in the handling of nuclear material, part of the group of nine nations that dominate the full cycle fuel with nuclear power plants, research reactors and going for more.

Today, the most viable alternative for energy-providing climate change and announced to oil and gas reserves, is nuclear. Countries reactors are not intended to be installed, and those must renew or replace them with larger ones.

In this scenario, Argentina has advantages: it is one of nine countries (with the United States, Russia, China, France, Germany, England, Iraq and Brazil) with the capacity to enrich uranium, reactor fuel nuclear has two operating nuclear power plants, is about to finish third and fourth plans and develops equipment and exported research reactors. Promote nuclear activity is synonymous with new jobs, retention of scientists and export earnings.
