Criticizing utilitarianism, Robert Nozick devised a machine experiences, which maximize the satisfaction of the individual directly in his mind on the condition that it accept to be connected to this machine by life.
The situation reminiscent of Huxley's Brave New World as well as the fantasies lived within the Matrix supercomputer in the eponymous film. At the end of the approach is reduced to a hypothetical chance to live a life apparently happy, but devoid of connection to reality.
What does Nozick ? Basically that few individuals would accept to change the harsh reality of a false happiness. OK to enter the machine would give up on life, liberty and responsibility. It would be a moral suicide.
